Diana Princess of Wales picture in her wedding dress which was designed by David and Elizabeth Emanuel
While sent into the changing rooms to try on the first batch of dresses, David said he had "alarm bells" about Katie's specifications - she wanted a 1920s-style dress within a €1,700 budget - pondering was she a "picky princess".
"She has been to millions of shops, tried on millions of dresses, she may be unfocused or even worse, her expectations are too high," he said.
After criticising the first two options she was presented with, he labelled her "difficult", saying: One minute you want twenties which is straight, then you are pulling it in which is fishtail, I am getting huge mixed messaged, it is difficult.'
Naturally, lucky three looked to be the winner for Katie, who eventually went with a Ronald Joyce gown costing €1,400/
"I think this dress is really special as it is elegant, chic and classic without being boring," she explained.
"I feel like a princess, it is a weight off my shoulders as it was really stressing me out."
