'Part of me was a bit p***ed off when I saw your wife making your meatballs' - Operation Transformation's dietician is not impressed
Tonight's Operation Transformation leaders lost an impressive 26 and a half pounds between them and while they were praised for their efforts, dietician Aoife Hearne had a few words of warning.
John Conmy lost 12lbs in his first week after being given the all-clear by a cardiologist to continue with the show despite a condition called atrial fibrilation.
John's wife Evonne has been hugely supportive and helped John with his food. However, dietician Aoife Hearne felt he needed to take more responsibility himself.
“What a start. I am not disappointed because how could you be with a 12 pounds right? But for me the habits are so, so, so important and I suppose, I didn’t necessarily see the effort of you taking responsibility," she said.
"There was a part of me that was a bit pissed off when I saw your wife making your meatballs. You need to take responsibility for this,” she said.
Fellow leader Lucy Dillon, who lost 7 and a half pounds, also came under fire, or rather her partner Conor did for eating chips in front of Lucy as she had a healthy meal.
“Well done, that is a wonderful start. My one piece of advice is that when we are thinking of maintaining habits and maintaining change creating a healthy environment is really, really important so those jam tarts in that trolley..." she said.
"Molly saw him eating chips and you eating another thing. That’s not realistic long term and it is not good for her either. One family, one meal is something that I feel really strongly about, so, I think that is something that you need to really drive home with him.
"You know if he wants to each chocolate or crisps or whatever he wants to do, he can eat it in his car, he can eat it outside the house but I think putting it in front of you right now is just too much temptation in your path.”
Lucy told viewers that Conor would be leaving the biscuits in the shop or in the car going forward.
Noeleen Lynam lost 7 lbs in her first week and did her first 0-5k training session.
“I wouldn’t have ran unless I was being chased or chasing something!" she laughed.
"I would never see any other reason for running. I actually surprised myself in that I enjoyed it. I was actually coming home from school looking forward to doing this, to go for a run: words I thought I would never say."
Noeleen appeared on the Ray D'Arcy Show where she talked about being 'romantically challenged'.
Afterward she told viewers: “Some people have been saying ‘are you doing this maybe as well to meet a man’ but I mean if I was doing this to meet a man, it is fairly drastic. I am sure Tinder would be much easier!”
Following her successful weigh-in Dr Ciara Kenny said, “Well done, that is an amazing weight loss in one week. It far exceeded anything we would have hoped for for you, so fantastic.
"You are a really brilliant example of saying there is no age that is too old or too late to be able to do this... You are proof positive, it can be done.”
