Operation Transformation dietician Aoife Hearne welled up in frustration on Thursday night's show as she questioned leader John Conmy's committment to his food and fitness plans.

John missed his target for the second week in a row, losing 2.5lbs instead of the expected 4, and Aoife was not impressed.

“I have been tough on you from week one because I felt you were talking the talk and not really putting it into action," she said.

"I have to be honest with you, I can’t believe that you are following the plan when I see a woman half your weight and older than you losing the same amount of weight as you, two weeks in a row,” she tells him.

However, the father-of-one insisted he had stuck rigidly to the plan.

“This week was bang on the button. I thought last week was bang on the button,2 he said.

"It was only when I went home Monday night and Evonne [his wife] sat down and she went through everything and there was one or two meals that were swapped around but this week was bang on the button. Everything."

It's not the first time Aoife has taken issue with John.  She previously told him she was a bit "pissed off" to see his wife cooking his meatballs.  She said she still hasn't seen any change in him.

“I don’t believe there has been any change, to be honest," she continued.

"There are people round the country who are looking up to you as their leader and if I was sitting at home watching you now, I’d be like ‘what is he doing, like seriously, what is he doing?’,” she says.

John said he felt bad for them and bad for himself as well.

Aoife then welled up as she told John that it is up to himself to change himself. Earlier in the episode, John and wife Evonne sat down for a session with OT expert Dr Eddie Murphy where they discussed the Mayo man’s hectic working schedule and post-work socialising.

“It is within your control John, that’s the thing,” Aoife said, “Other people watching TV can’t change you. You can change you. I saw this week how much Evonne wants you to change but, no matter how much she wants it, she can’t do it for you. I could see it, she just wants it so much, for you , for her, for your family as a unit, for your daughter. It is heartbreaking to see that you got this opportunity and you are not grasping it”.

However, John was insistent he was doing his best, “Aoife, I could not work any harder at either the food plan or the exercise than I worked at last week”.

Aoife replied, “I can see that you are annoyed and frustrated but I do think the only thing that can change today’s result is thinking about what maybe hasn’t worked as well and how we can make that work better."

Afterward John addressed the viewers but seemed at a loss as to where he's slipping up, “I can’t see where I can work harder, to be honest. I follow the meal plan. The only thing, maybe the breakfast is a too late in the morning, things are running a bit late that way. I don’t know."
