A new Irish dating show which sees singletons choose dates based on their cars found participants on dating app Tinder.

Contestants for Pioc do Ride, which kicks off on TG4 tonight, were sourced through various channels including people who swiped right on the Pioc Do Ride Tinder profile.

The Irish Blind Date with cars is a 13 part series and each week one lucky bachelor or bachelorette will get to choose from three potential suitors.

However, they will choose their date based on that person's car and will get the chance to kick their tyres and rummage through the boot to glean insights into their suitor's personality.

The lighthearted and first of its kind series aims to find love for some of Ireland’s loneliest drivers with often hilarious and farcical results. Expect boy racers, theory tests, L-plates and hill starts, and a few bumps and scrapes along the way.

Once the choice is made the new couple will finally be introduced but the chosen contestant then becomes the one in the driving seat - they can choose between accepting a €250 date or spending that €250 on their beloved motor at Advance Pitstop.

The potential for humiliation is huge as episode one demonstrates when kickboxer Corey from Derry is faced with choosing between a boy racer from Kilkenny, an Irish dancer from Dingle and a smooth talker from Dublin.

The show starts this Thursday at 10pm on TG4.
