Filming for a major Game of Thrones nude scene has been given the go ahead in Croatia after a conflict threatened to end producers’ plans.

Fans of George RR Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire novel series will know that Cersei Lannister’s naked walk of shame is coming up in season five.

Lena Headey is on board for the infamous scene, but problems arose when the team were banned from shooting the controversial moments in Dubrovnik.

The capital city’s Catholic Church of St Nicholas - firmly against public nudity as expected - opposed a request to film on “immoral” grounds but a compromise has now been found, according to TMZ.

Producers will be allowed to shoot Cersei walking naked through Stadun Street to the Sponza Palace so long as she is not filmed nude inside a place of worship.

A fake church set will be created to ensure the TV series remains faithful to fifth novel A Dance With Dragons.

Earlier this month, Martin revealed that fans, mostly women, have been demanding more explicit male sex scenes.

"I'm not going to do it just for the sake of doing it," he told the Edinburgh International Literary Festival. "If the plot lends itself to that, if one of my viewpoint characters is in a situation, then I'm not going to shy away from it, but you can't just insert things because everyone wants to see them."

The US author has previously defended the inclusion of graphic sexual violence in Game of Thrones, saying that it would be "fundamentally false and dishonest" not to feature it.

"My novels are epic fantasy but they are inspired by and grounded in history," he said in May.
