Miley Cyrus breaks down in tears as she presents comedy show SNL series premiere
Viewers of Saturday Night Live were left stunned last night as host Miley Cyrus broke down in tears during a performance.
During the season premiere of the long-running comedy show Miley got emotional during her second performance of the evening.
As she sang the words to The Twinkle Song she became increasingly upset and had difficulty performing the last verse.
The 22-year-old didn't offer an explanation for her tears.
Earlier she sang her first song in a barely there 'outfit' which saw floral garlands and an enormous wig with tendrils hanging down to her knees to cover her modesty.
Presidential hopeful Hilary Clinton was also on the show and she introduced Miley for her first song, Karen Don't Be Sad, which she performed with frequent collaborators The Flaming Lips, although they were called Miley's Dead Petz on the night.
She opened the show by joking about her wild child reputation by saying, "At least my parents know where I am for at least 90 minutes."
Miley and the SNL team took pops at a variety of people including Ariana Grande (and her donut licking), Kim Davis (who grabbed the Pope for a hug), Rachel Dolezal (the dentist who killed Cecil the Lion) and more.
She ended her stint with a performance of Frank Sinatra's My Way.
