MasterChef's Tamilla keeps her cool in search of perfection

By Katie Archer

The contestant was not intimidated by John Torode.

Viewers of MasterChef’s latest heat were bowled over by the confidence of a contestant who refused to be rushed through her cooking.

Russian Tamilla surprised judges John Torode and Greg Wallace when she announced that she would be preparing Russian sushi in Thursday’s round of the BBC One competition.

But when John tried to hurry her along as she was running out of time to complete the challenge, the contestant replied: “You can’t rush perfection.”

Fans of the programme were amazed that she had dared to talk back to John.

However, Tamilla’s confidence did not carry her through to the quarter finals as John and Gregg deemed her MasterChef journey to be over.

Guest judges on Thursday’s episode included Wahaca boss Thomasina Miers, 2014 winner Ping Coombes and daytime TV show Lorraine’s in-house cook Dean Edwards.

MasterChef continues on Friday at 8.30pm on BBC One.
