Marty Whelan has said he would love to step into Bruce Forsyth’s shoes and present the Irish version of Strictly Come Dancing.

The popular Winning Streak host has said that he has not yet been approached about co-presenting RTE’s show but he would consider all offers, as it would be a “compliment”.

“If someone came up and said, ‘We’d like to talk to you about this’, most of us would, because this is going to be very glamorous and gorgeous and it is great light entertainment television,” he said.

Grainne Seoige has already been screen-tested by ShinAwil, the company making Dancing with the Stars, as they begin casting for the programme which starts in January.

The show will also have a male co-presenter, with Marty being tipped as the ideal man for the job.

The Lyric FM presenter said that he always keeps his options open when it comes to new gigs.

“One should never shoot down something that clearly would be what you do,” he said.
