Majella's 'dodgy knees' ruled her out of following Daniel's footsteps on Dancing with the Stars
Her husband Daniel may have strutted his stuff on Strictly Come Dancing but Majella O'Donnell has no plans to follow suit.
The Tipperary woman (57) was approached to be a contestant on RTE's Dancing With The Stars but ultimately decided not to take part.
Majella, who previously had a double mastectomy and suffers with bad knees, isn't sure if she would be able to complete some of the intricate lifts and dance moves the competition requires.
"I've been asked. I would be like the old one who you would expect to go out in the first week. I've had a double mastectomy and the lifts, I couldn't do any of that, I've got dodgy knees. A part of me thinks it would be good to do to get fit," she said.
Daniel reckons if his wife did compete she would take the competition very seriously.
"She doesn't think she's fit because of her surgeries. Majella is a perfectionist, she would kick herself [if she got a step wrong]," he said.
The Donegal man (56) took part in the 2015 series of Strictly where he was partnered with professional dancer Kristina Rihanoff and was the third celebrity sent home.
He has been impressed with the Irish version of the series so far and has sympathy for the current crop of celebrities competing as he remembers the pressure he felt on the BBC show.
"It's great that it's come to Ireland and it's of the same standard. Anna Geary is very good, Jake Carter is excellent. I have been in it and I know anybody who has gone out on that floor, it's brilliant for them to do it.
"It's so intense. I can imagine the nerves are just up at fever pitch. It's a great show," he told the Herald.
Daniel previously said the Irish series was just as good as the British version and the only thing it was missing was a live band.
"The only thing they didn't have that was in the UK was the band. From my point of view, I would love to see a live band, but I understand, too, the need to have a budget," he said.
Dancing With The Stars had its first live performance on last Sunday's episode when Irish singer Gavin James performed.
There are eight celebrities remaining on the show, with the fourth contestant set to be eliminated this weekend after no one went home during switch-up week.
Alannah Beirne, Anna Geary and Erin McGregor have all been named as contenders for the trophy.
