King Nidge and the rest of the ‘Love/Hate’ gang will return to our screens on Sunday, October 5.
It has also been revealed that the highly anticipated fifth series of the hit RTE drama will span six episodes.
The Dr Jekyll to Nidge’s Mr Hyde, actor Tom Vaughan-Lawlor, told how his wife, actress Claire Cox, keeps him calm while he spends 11 weeks per year filming the hugely successful series.
“It’s kind of interesting, because you come home sort of wound up, and she says ‘here’s (your son) Freddie’, go and relax and be calm,” he told Ryan Tubridy on ‘The Late Late Show’ on RTE One.
His wife added: “I just tell him to calm down, and cook me some food, or make me a cup of tea.”
Lawlor revealed that his wife is just as supportive when he becomes his infamous alter-ego, Nidge.
“Claire is brilliant at running lines with me. So Claire plays Fran (and other characters) and is really stunning in her cut glass English accents. It’s very, very funny.”
The fifth series of the programme will pick up just a fortnight after series four’s explosive climax - a first for the show, which has traditionally resumed a year later.
A sneak-peek released by RTE shows actor Fran (Peter Coonan), looking slightly concerned for his welfare, while Nidge is scrambling to stay in control and is looking toward pipe-bomb maker Patrick (John Connors) to help re-assert his authority.
While creator Stuart Carolan is yet to confirm a sixth series, it looks likely if the show’s unprecedented popularity continues.
