Jimmy Kimmel will host Emmy Awards 2016
TV presenter Jimmy Kimmel will host the 68th Primetime Emmy Awards.
ABC announced on Monday (07Mar16) that the late night chat show host will be returning to helm the glitzy ceremony once again, following his turn in 2012. Both Jimmy and ABC Entertainment President Channing Dungey are confident he will prove a popular choice when the high-profile event takes place later this year.
"Jimmy Kimmel is the consummate showman," President Dungey said in a statement. "With Kimmel at the helm, expect to be at the edge of your seat for a bigger, bolder, and better-than-ever Emmy event."
The 68th Primetime Emmy Awards will air on September 18, and Jimmy can’t wait to take centre stage.
"I am excited to be hosting the Emmys again. I have a feeling I’m going to be great," Jimmy said in a statement.
It’s no surprise that Jimmy has been chosen to host the ceremony again, having received rave reviews when he first took on the duties back in 2012. He has also won over an army of fans with his hit US talk show Jimmy Kimmel Live!, which has previously received countless Emmy nominations, including Outstanding Variety Series.
Rumours began circulating in February that Jimmy was in talks to helm the Emmys after he was reportedly approached by ABC. Jimmy isn’t the first talk show host to front the awards show, with Conan O’Brien and Jimmy Fallon also landing the coveted role, as well as regular live awards show host Neil Patrick Harris.
Nominations for the 2016 Emmys will be announced in the morning of July 14.
In a separate announcement, Bob Bain has been confirmed as executive producer of the Creative Arts Emmy Awards, which will take place over September 10 and 11.
