'I've got kicked in the stones three weeks in a row' - Operation Transformation leader John Conmy considers dropping out
Operation Transformation leader John Conmy is considering dropping out of the programme after a tough three weeks.
In tonight's episode the Mayo man's frustration with the process comes to a head and he says he feels like he's "been kicked in the stones three weeks in a row".
After a whopping 12lb weight loss in week one John has struggled to maintain the momentum and when he failed to hit his target for the second week in a row dietician Aoife Hearne had some harsh words for him.
She said, “I don’t believe there has been any change, to be honest. There are people round the country who are looking up to you as their leader and if I was sitting at home watching you now, I’d be like ‘what is he doing, like seriously, what is he doing?’."
Back in the kitchen of his restaurant – Fun Bobby’s Bistro in Belmullet – he says: “I didn’t make my target this week, so I am pretty pissed about that.
"I am pissed about the experts saying I am not putting in the work. This was supposed to be an adventure, a journey. This was supposed to be ‘get yourself in shape’ and all that’s coming out of it is just, honest to God, negativity.
“This craic of going to Dublin and getting shouted at, I don’t know... “I have never, ever experienced anything like it”.
Asked whether or not he would travel to Dublin for the weigh-in he said, "I don't know.
"I’ll make a decision on Friday whether I’ll go to Dublin or not. If I never see Dublin again, it won’t bother me."
Presenter Kathryn Thomas travels to Mayo to check in on John and asks him about his comments regarding not returning to Dublin.
“Coming down from Dublin the last day, I don’t want to feel like that again. I didn’t want to go back there again. I am frustrated and kind of mad that I am not training,” he says.
As for packing it in, he adds, "I don’t know, I have followers and I feel fiercely loyal to them but I have just got kicked in the stones three weeks in a row."
John's decision will be revealed on Operation Transformation tonight (Wednesday) at 8.30pm on RTE One.
