Is Nicky Byrne in the running for Xtra Factor presenting gig?
Nicky Byrne could be in the running for the Xtra Factor presenting gig.
It's good news for Nicky in the wake of his disappointment following his Eurovision exit in the semi final last week.
The former Westlife star and 2FM radio presenter has reportedly been short-listed for the coveted Xtra Factor gig which he would present alongside a co-host.
The Irish Mail on Sunday reports that Nicky screen tested for the job before he flew out to represent Ireland with Sunlight at Eurovision.
“A number of people are being considered for the position and Nicky is on that list,” an insider told the newspaper.
“He has plenty of experience on camera and has a great profile in England which is a real plus.
They also stated that his Eurovision exit has no bearing on this job as "it's all about the chemistry".
While Dermot O'Leary will replace Olly Murs and Caroline Flack as the main show presenter, there are reportedly several stars in the running for Xtra Factor, which is traditionally presented by two hosts.
Last year Melvin Odoom and Rochelle Humes landed the gig.
However, Simon Cowell has been shaking up the line-up of judges and presenters in an effort to boost flagging ratings this year.

Returning with Dermot is Louis Walsh, who this week said he would like to see an Irish act in the final following the show's auditions at Dublin's Croke Park on July 1.
Rita Ora has announced her departure from the show, following Cheryl Fernandez Versini out the exit door.
Sharon Osbourne and Nicole Scherzinger are returning to complete the judging panel.
