'I'm very touched by Kate Beckinsale's kind words' - Miriam O'Callaghan
RTE broadcaster Miriam O’Callaghan says she is “very touched” by Hollywood actress Kate Beckinsale’s praise.
The Pearl Harbour star described the Primetime host as “enchanting” after Miriam interviewed her while she was promoting Total Recall.
Miriam has responded, calling Kate “very kind” and urging her to make a return to Ireland soon.
Kate (43) and her then co-star Colin Farrell appeared on RTE summer chat show series Saturday Night With Miriam in 2012.
In an interview over the weekend, Kate said chatting to Miriam was “like nattering to an old friend” and went on to give her huge praise.
Speaking to the Herald, Miriam said she felt herself and the Hollywood star had “really bonded”.
“I remember Kate well – she came on my chat show with Colin Farrell. We had a lot of fun and I felt at the time that there was a real connection between us,” she said.
“I knew Colin from before and have been always incredibly fond of him, but I felt that Kate and I really bonded.
“She was warm and funny and kind. I am very touched by her kind words – I really am. Thank you Kate – come back soon for a catch up!”
Miriam appeared to have made a lasting impression on Kate when they met almost four-and-a-half years ago – with Kate staying she stood out to her from other interviewers.
“I’ve done my fair share of chat shows and they can get a bit same same. A bit forgettable. But Miriam was an enchanting breath of fresh air,” Beckinsale said.
“Colin knew her so I expected them to be reminiscing and have these Irish jokes and anecdotes which would go completely over my head.
“But she was so fabulous and gorgeous and lovely and it was like nattering with an old friend. Which is basically the best kind of conversation one can have.”
