'I put Louis on the telly, I’ll watch Louis die on telly' - DWTS producer Larry Bass hits back at Louis Walsh's criticism
Louis' rival talent show Ireland's Got Talent kicks off soon
Get ready for the battle of the shiny floor shows.
Next month Dancing with the Stars will go head to head with TV3’s Ireland’s Got Talent.
Louis Walsh, judge on Ireland’s Got Talent, has been less than enthusiastic about the DWTS line up.
“They are not even celebrities in their own homes,” he told journalists last year.
“It shouldn’t be called Dancing With The Stars, RTE should call it Dancing With The Staff.”
Predictably DWTS producer Larry Bass wasn’t overly impressed when he was quizzed about the lack of celebrity sparkle.
“This coming from Louis?” he said.
“And Louis would know a star? When was the last time Louis signed an act that actually had a hit record?”
Bass and Walsh previously worked together on You’re A Star.
“Look it. I put Louis on the telly, I’ll watch Louis die on telly. Y’know, Louis is around as long as I am…
“I go back a long way with Louis. I did sound for a lot of his acts. I have the scars from Linda Martin and Chips. So Louis and I go back a long time.
“Louis is great and I love him to bits, but Louis knows a good show. He wouldn’t be talking about us if he didn’t think we were competition.”
