Big Brother is set to return to our screens in a surprisingly short two weeks time, and it sounds like it could be the best one yet.

Emma Willis will return as host for the 17th series of the show on June 7, with X-Factor star Rylan Clark presenting spin-off show Big Brother’s Bit On The Side.

While this is traditionally the “non-celebrity” version of the reality show, it has been rumoured that producers have plans to mix things up and throw a few celebrities in with the contestants.

Two of our favourite Gogglebox regulars, hairdressers Chris and Stephen have allegedly been approached to appear in the show, as well as personalities from The Only Way Is Essex and Ex On The Beach.

Unlike the comedic games and challenges housemates usually partake in, producers have said that there will be a dark twist this season.

“From day one, the housemates will be under attack from an unseen ominous dark force that will have a dramatic and divisive effect on the house. Whilst things may appear to be straight forward Big Brother will ensure that no-one will have the entire picture.

There may even be deeper connections at work?

"The housemates are not alone and they should be prepared for paranoia and suspicion,” a press release from the show said.

Host Emma Willis welcomed her third baby Trixie Grace with her husband, Busted singer Matt Willis on May 4, meaning she’s returning to work just weeks after giving birth.

The show will premiere in Ireland on TV3 on June 7 and will then be repeated on 3e.
