A data breach at HBO has reportedly prompted the company to call in the FBI.

The hack, which resulted in spoilers and unseen episodes of hit show Game of Thrones being released, was carried out by a group who illegally broke into HBO's computer networks.

They claim to have taken 1.5 terabytes of data which would be seven times the amount taken during the 2014 Sony hack.

As well as the Game of Thrones data, episodes of Ballers and Room 104 were leaked, as well as the personal information of a senior HBO executive.

The hackers have threatened to release even more data as HBO attempt to get Google to remove links to leaked files.

The Hollywood Reporter reveals that there was no ransom demand, a motive has not yet been determined, and that HBO has called in the FBI and cybersecurity firm Mandiant.
