Guy loses all his money on game show after mispronouncing 'flamenco' as 'flamingo'
Jonny's face says it all
A Wheel of Fortune contestant lost all his money after mispronouncing the word 'flamenco'.
Jonny managed to uncover the phrase 'Flamenco Dance Lessons' on the board and all he had to do was read it out to win, but he unfortunately he said, 'Flamingo Dance Lessons'.
Flamingoes are big pink birds. Flamenco is a form of Spanish dance. Jonny lost his $7,100 cash with $1000 going to fellow contestant Ashley, who pronounced the phrase correctly.
Jonny appeared to be rendered speechless as the host Pat Sajak awarded Ashley her cash.
After the break Sajak addressed the fact that Jonny's mispronunciation was unintentional but added, "You have to kind of play by the rules". However, they did take back Ashley's extra €1,000.
In the end he took home €19,000 although it would have been more if it hadn't been for that darn 'flamingo'.
Dude on #WheelOfFortune had the entire puzzle filled out and pronounced it wrong. Look on his face said he had no idea why he got the puzzle wrong. No lie, the very next puzzle was “What just happened?” Jonny still made it to the bonus round #cantmakethisstuffup— Tyler Turnbow (@Turnbow_T) April 9, 2018
I was hoping this would trend. Poor Jonny. Something tells me he won’t be watching the Flamingo Kid movie anytime soon. #WheelOfFortune— Kelly Kass (@KelKass) April 10, 2018
I felt bad for Jonny on Wheel of Fortune tonight for losing out on all that cash and the trip to Spain but he totally said FLAMINGO instead of Flamenco. #WheelofFortune— Novafan23 (@Novafan23) April 10, 2018
