Grainne Seoige's Up For The Match with RTE return
Grainne Seoige hit the headlines earlier this year when her contract with RTE was brought to an end, but the Herald can reveal she is set for a return to the broadcaster.
The Galway woman stayed open to doing "contracted work" with the station and is to reprise her presenting role alongside Des Cahill on GAA show Up For The Match.
It's understood RTE will continue to employ Grainne on a programme-by-programme basis, which means she is also free to work with other stations.
She is currently dividing her time between here and South Africa, where she lives with fiance Leon Jordaan as she works on building up her online jewellery business, Grace Diamonds.
But Grainne will return at the end of the month to slip back into the studio with Des as they front the sports programme on Saturday, September 2.
The show will see about 200 die-hard Waterford and Galway fans descend on Montrose dressed in their county colours ahead of the All Ireland hurling final on September 3.
A source said that, while Grainne's contract had run its course, she was still considered a valuable asset by RTE.
"She's considered a safe pair of hands. She's a total pro and is well able to co- anchor a popular show with ease, so she's a great fit for Up for the Match," said the source.
"The door isn't shut in RTE - it's still open if the right project comes along."
Asked recently about her TV career, the Gaeilgeoir said it was all about finding the "right thing for me in television" as she looks ahead.
"I can't disclose details of my contracts but RTE have made it clear we are discussing further projects for this autumn," she told the Herald.
