FANS of BBC3 have been given more time to say goodbye, as it will now remain on-air until 2016.

The BBC had planned to move the service online-only from August, however that move has been delayed as the trust continues to discuss the move.

The announcement to axe the station met with widespread disappointment.

The station – which mainly caters for 18-30 years olds – broadcasts from 7pm until early the following morning.

It is understood station bosses wanted more time to build up the social and online following for the station before the move.
