'Get the time booked off, because that's what I'm doing' - BBC newsreader isn't exactly excited about royal baby news
A breaking news alert was made yesterday when Kensington Palace revealed the month in which the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's third baby will be born.
Bear in mind they did not reveal the due date, but the MONTH. Still, it was big news and it arrived right in the middle of BBC newsreader Simon McCoy's programme Afternoon Live.
"Just got this coming in from Kensington Palace," he said, and went on to reveal that William and Kate's baby will arrive in April.
"Now bearing in mind they announced that she was pregnant back in September it was thought she was around two or three months pregnant..." he said, before clearly losing interest.
"I'm not sure how much news this really is but anyway it's April."
He quipped, "So clear your diaries, get the time booked off, because that's what I'm doing."
We're sure quite a few people felt exactly the same, Simon.
Later he tweeted the #news again:
