Singer songwriter Hozier, Tanaiste Joan Burton, Sister Stanislaus Kennedy and writer Richard Dawkins will all take to the hot seat in Gay Byrne’s new series of The Meaning of Life.

The first episode of the 11th season will feature Wicklow-born Hozier.

The modest musician will discuss his attitude towards the Catholic Church and the significance of his Take Me to Church video.

Veteran broadcaster Gaybo said he always suspected Andrew Hozier Byrne was destined for great things.

“He is a very charming young man, very tall and very good humoured,” he told the Herald.

“I liked him. Of course, anyone with the name Byrne is bound to succeed.”

The Meaning of Life executive producer, Roger Childs, believes viewers will see a different side to the chart-topper.

“It’s not the type of interview Hozier normally does,” he said.

“He’s not discussing his love life or touring schedule or explaining how he deals with the pressure of fame.

“It’s a lot deeper than that. He rises to the challenge and people may see him in a different light.”

Childs described this year’s line-up as an “eclectic dinner party”, adding: “They are all strong individuals with something different to say.

“It’s a series that really connects with people.”

Previous guests on The Meaning of Life included Stephen Fry, Taoiseach Enda Kenn, and David Puttnam.

Meanwhile, Joe Duffy will host a new series of Spirit Level.

The radio fav-

ourite takes a step inside the kitchen, whipping up culinary delights while rustling up debate with famous faces.

Hozier will appear on The Meaning of Life on RTE One this Sunday at 10.35pm.
