The release date for season seven of Game of Thrones has reportedly been leaked online.

Game of Thrones fans have eagerly been awaiting the release of season seven of the fantasy series since June last year, but now there's light at the end of the tunnel as the release date has reportedly been posted online.

Eagle-eyed viewers noticed that IMDB had updated the show's information page with June 25th as the day that the first episode of the new season will air.

The date was quickly taken down, although screengrabs were taken and shared online.

HBO is yet to confirm the release date.

The Golden Globe-winning show usually airs in spring, but it was pushed back as production ran over, according to reports.

Two weeks ago, George RR Martin, author of the books which the show is based on, finally gave fans an update on when  the latest book, Winds of Winter will be released.

While responding to a fan who commented on his blog post, Martin wrote: "Not done yet, but I've made progress. But not as much as I hoped a year ago, when I thought to be done by now. I think it will be out this year. (But hey, I thought the same thing last year).”
