Game of Thrones season 6 is of course still shrouded in secrecy given it's not due to air until April next year.

However, actress Emilia Clarke, who plays Daenerys Targaryen, has read the scripts and revealed that the new season will go from "shocking moment to shocking moment".

Fans are well used to shocks although season 5 was criticised in some quarters for lagging a little at times.  Not so season 6, says Clarke.

"This season coming up, that we’re about to film, there’s none of that," she told the Los Angeles Times.

"It’s just go, go, go, go. Shocking moment to shocking moment. Epic moment to epic moment. It’s mental; it’s epic. And definitely Dany’s a part of it."

Of her character, she said, "There’s so much in store for her.  I’m saying that obviously because I’ve read the script for next season. Mwah ha ha! I know stories. It’s really exciting."

Filming has already begun here in Ireland on the new season which should hit the small screen in April next year.

'Game of Thrones' is the king of Emmy nominations again
