Some of the most powerful scenes from this season's Game of Thrones finale involved Lena Headey's Cersei. Scheming, amoral, and ruthless, the queen was a character we all loved to hate – until, as punishment for her adultery, she was forced to undergo a naked walk of penance through the streets of King's Landing, and we all started to feel just a little bit sorry for her.

Some viewers, however, were less transfixed by Cersei's plight, and more transfixed by her body. While the character was shown completely naked, eagle-eyed viewers were quick to point out that the body in question wasn't Headey's; instead, she'd used a double.

Some dedicated "fans" on Reddit even went to the trouble of comparing the show with Headey's topless scenes in the 2007 film 300, just to make it absolutely clear that the two women weren't the same.

The actress herself has made no secret of the fact that a double was used when the scenes were filmed last year in the Croation city of Dubrovnik. Some reports suggest that Headey have been pregnant at the time of filming, although she may have simply been reluctant to undertake an outdoors nude shoot, in front of a large crowd of extras.

Either way, despite these two (perfectly valid) explanations, some audience members simply weren't happy with the switch, and swiftly took to Twitter to voice their dissastisfaction.

Many of the complaints expressed irritation at the "terrible" CGI used to graft Headey's head on to that of the double. The image below (from the website Uproxx), for example, highlights how the CGI effects appeared to lengthen Headey's neck, and altered the shape of her head, making it appear rounder.

The identity of Headey's body double is currently unknown, but actress Hannah Waddington, who played the Septa who accompanied Cersei on her walk (periodically calling out "Shame!"), recently spoke to Vulture about the unknown woman, telling the website: "Our fantastic body double was just so brave. I had a lot of respect for her."

In contrast, another Game of Thrones body double has made no secret of her role on the show.

18-year-old model and actress Rosie Mac, who is the body double for Emilia Clarke (who stars on Game of Thrones as Queen Daenerys), has received a fair amount of press and online attention since coming forward to speak about her work on the programme.

Mac, pictured below in an image from her Instagram account, recently told Paste Magazine that she initially decided not to audition for the body double role, but was called in after one of the show's producers spotted a Twitter-selfie in which she was sporting long blonde hair, and was struck by her resemblance to Daenerys.

Mac (who specifies her Instagram page that she is Clarke's "body double", not a "nude double"), recently shared some images of herself on the Game of Thrones set last year, preparing to shoot scenes set in Meereen's Daznak fighting pit.
