Game of Thrones actor Brenock O'Connor has revealed he still receives death threats from fans all over the world after last season's bloody finale.

Brenock's character Olly was responsible for dealing the final stab to fan favourite Jon Snow whose demise was a massive shock and continues to haunt fans who hope to see him return.

Unfortunately for Olly some viewers can't distinguish between fantasy and reality and he received horrific threats on social media in the wake of the scenes airing.

“The fallout on Twitter and other social media was not nice and the barrage has not stopped since the end of the last season, mainly because since the season finished people have been watching it on boxsets," Brenock told The Brighton Argus.

“If you get people from Spain and Portugal and all over the world saying they are going to kill your family, you just can’t take it to heart or you would not cope.

“My family just thinks it is people who wanted to say something, and because of social media, you can say it to people on other side of the world."

The 16-year-old star says he finds it "laughable" that people find the show so realistic that it would prompt them to send abusive messages to someone who simply plays the character.

"I find it quite funny," he said.  “I'm not Olly and I did not decide to stab Jon Snow!”

However, the grounded young star, from Brighton, revealed that he does not respond to the abuse.

“It has no effect on me. You can either let it get you down or not think about it," he said.  “It was such an incredible thing to have that reaction. I wouldn’t have it any other way.”
