'Friends' fan writes sad and depressing alternative ending for series (that kind of makes sense)
It has been a whole 14 years since Friends wrapped but fans are still not willing to let it go.
Now one fan has proffered an alternative ending for the show and it's pretty darn depressing, although it's not entirely nuts.
The series ended with the six titular friends sharing one last coffee in Central Perk, but fan Gareth Stranks has given that scene a sad twist.
His idea is that all ten seasons of the show were in fact just scenes imagined by Phoebe.

In his version, she's a homeless, drug-addicted woman who stares enviously in the window of the cafe and imagines life being friends with Rachel, Monica, Ross, Chandler and Joey.
But those are not their real names, and in his final scene he would have shot Phoebe walking away from the cafe and the other characters talking about the "crazy lady who always stares at us".
"Each kooky aside, each time she made everything about her, each example of how she's an outsider, it all makes sense," wrote Gareth on Twitter.
"All she ever wanted was Friends."
Speaking to The Independent, Gareth (30) from London, said "The 'It was all a dream' thing is such a cheesy trope, so I thought it would be funny if there was that kind of finale.
"It was a very tongue-in-cheek idea, one of those 'It all makes sense!' stupid realisations that you could give Friends a really depressing ending."
