Gráinne Seoige will be returning to the State broadcaster to present 'Up for the Match' with Des Cahill.

Her exclusive contract with RTÉ came to an end earlier this year, but the Galwegian stayed open to doing "contracted work" with the station.

It is understood that RTÉ will employ Gráinne on a programme-by-programme basis, which means that she is also a free agent to work with other stations.

She is currently dividing her time between Ireland and South Africa, where she lives with fiancé Leon Jordaan as she works on building up her online jewellery business, Grace Diamonds.

But she will return here at the end of the month to slip back into the studio with Des as they front the sports programme on Saturday, September 2.

It will see around 200 die-hard Waterford and Galway fans descend on Montrose dressed in their county colours as they enjoy a preview of the action ahead of the All Ireland Hurling Final the next day.

A source said that while Gráinne's contract had run its course, she was considered a valuable asset for RTÉ.
