Here's Amy Huberman as you've never seen her before, in her new RTE drama Striking Out, as she plays down-on-her-luck solicitor Tara Rafferty.

We may be used to seeing the actress looking poised and polished in her everyday life, but she's ditching the glam and going back to basics in the legal drama.

Having just found out her fiance and co-worker Eric Dunbar has been cheating on her with a colleague, we find Tara wandering the streets of Dublin barefoot with tears streaming down her face in the first episode.

The devastating revelation comes on the evening of her hen party, and she walks around the city centre all night trying to deal with the end of her relationship with Eric, played by Rory Keenan.

When Tara arrives at her legal office to clear out her desk, she is met by client Ray Lamont (Emmet Byrne) and has to pull herself together in order to prevent him going to jail.

Ray becomes an unlikely ally for Tara after offering to help her set up a temporary office in a nearby cafe.

As she takes the first step in striking out on her own, her long-standing mentor Vincent brings her a new client, a TV presenter named Conor who's being blackmailed with a sex tape.

Meanwhile, her former fiance enlists the help of her mum Irene in a bid to win back Tara after his cheating.

The four-part series will debut on RTE One tomorrow night at 9.30pm and run weekly as viewers watch Tara try to build a new life for herself in the wake of the betrayal.

Filmed in Dublin during the summer, the show also stars Men Behaving Badly actor Neil Morrissey, Utopia's Fiona O'Shaughnessy and Brahm Gallagher of Game of Thrones fame.
