'Fighting fit' Vincent Browne will return to screens
After suffering recent health problems and missing most of TV3's General Election coverage, rumours spread that it would be broadcaster Vincent Browne's last year on our screens.
But the 72-year-old political pundit and journalist will be one of the main stars of TV3's launch later this month as he returns, fighting fit, to his weeknight programme Tonight with Vincent Browne.
A source told the Sunday Independent: "Vincent will be front and centre at the launch. He is one of our biggest stars and there will be no changes to his presence at the station.
"We have taken RTE on in sport and entertainment, and current affairs is now our focus. So we are not taking away from the great talent we already have."
Having received treatment for respiratory problems, the TV3 presenter is holding fast to his promise to return to our screens in September. Browne will be coming back with some new faces on his production team after one of his leading team members, Lisa-Marie Berry, moved to a job in RTE.
Her departure follows the exit of two of Browne's producers in 2014, just months after joining the show. Betty Purcell, a former RTE producer, and Sean MacCarthaigh decided to resign in May of that year.
