Fair City fans will have to wait even longer for the resolution of the Katy kidnapping storyline as it's all about Paul and Niamh in tonight's episode.

It's the soap's first ever two-hander and promises high drama as Paul (Tony Tormey) confronts Niamh (Clelia Murphy) about her affair with Marcus.

"I was really excited when I read the script because this is the first time Fair City has filmed a two-hander episode - so, I was thrilled to be given the opportunity to be part of that," says Clelia.

"I think it's a really nice way to bring it all together.  After weeks of lies and deceit the storyline reaches a crescendo when Paul and Niamh have it out, face-to-face, and lay all their cards on the table.

"It was pretty intense filming some of the scenes.  Both Tony and I put everything into it, so, I really hope people at home enjoy watching the outcome."

The episode will see Niamh telling Paul that she plans to start a new life without him and the news provokes a violent outburst as he sweeps dishes off the counter on to the floor.

Paul believes she's hiding something from him and as he pushes for details she twists the knife and admits that she and Marcus slept together in their bed.

She helps herself to a glass of whiskey, leaving the bottle on the table, and as things escalate she reminds Paul of the time she called to his flat and interrupted his tryst with Hayley and he's stunned she has known about the affair for so long.

The realisation prompts him to take a different tack and try to win Niamh back.  He suggests the move to Barcelona could be a fresh start for the family.

Niamh, however, is exasperated when he refuses to accept the marriage is over.  Tensions rise as she goes to hit him but he catches her hand and they share a moment.

He begs her for forgiveness and a new start and for a moment she is tempted and they share a kiss.  But as things heat up she pulls away and he starts to get forceful.

She trashes the kitchen in a rage and as they continue to argue she finally announces that she was the one who took Paul's money.

He grabs her by the throat and as she gasps for breath is suddenly realises what he's doing and stops.  Niamh defends herself by grabbing the whiskey bottle and smashes it over his head, rendering him unconscious.

Tony says, "It's make or break time for Paul and Niamh.  In Paul's mind, he and Niamh belong together, sure they have had their fair share of problems, but they always come back to each other.

"He cheated with Hayley and Niamh cheated with Marcus - you could say they're even now, they can just draw a line under it and move on.  But as we know things are never that simple in soap!"
