Sunday night's episode of Room to Improve had everyone in tears.

Viewers of the home improvement show were in for a surprise on Sunday night when they found themselves in tears following the touching storyline.

This week, Dermot Bannon was working on a family home in Sutton which was being renovated by healthcare trainer Hannah and her husband James.

However, this was a renovation with a difference as Hannah grew up in the 1960's house and was rebuilding it for her own family after her parents passed away.

With so many memories created in the house, Dermot had to tread very carefully to bring it to the 21st century while still maintaining the precious family legacy.

Hannah's storyline left viewers in tears as they weren't expecting such an emotional turn of events.

"So Room to Improve was emotional, can't be dealing with that on a Sunday night," said one user on Twitter.

"Emotional watching Room to Improve tonight! Poor girl losing her parents so close! Beautiful house that they can enjoy with their family," said another.

"I can't cope with poor Hannah missing her mam and dad. The poor lady, I hope she's happy there with her family."

"Bawling! Adored that woman. What a lady. Mom of twins too. Respect. Amazing home a la Dermot Bannon once again."

As usual, the works weren't without their complications, but they were all worth it in the end when the family got their dream home.

"Yet another gorgeous house on Room to Improve and this one had a special sentiment behind it too."
