Emmerdale fans may have been expecting a character death or two in the wake of the helicopter disaster but last night's double bill offered up a more shocking death - murder.

Or was it manslaughter?  Having found out his brother Ross had slept with his new wife Debbie, Pete was driven to kill him, albeit accidentally.

Tuesday night's dramatic helicopter crash during her wedding at the village hall saw Debbie suffering serious injuries and last night the two brothers came face to face by her hospital bedside.

Security had to step in and throw them out as their rage escalated and outside the building Ross goaded Pete into beating him.

In the fracas Ross suffered a head injury and Pete was horrified to find that he was dead.  Shocked at what had just happened, he panicked and hid Ross's body in the woods.

Fans were left reeling after the death, the third regular character death in the Dales this week as the helicopter crash claimed the lives of Ruby and Val.

The incident ramps up the drama for the coming weeks as Pete will no doubt struggle to keep his terrible secret.

Many fans have taken to Twitter to voice their shock over the exit of actor Mike Parr who plays Ross and just as many suspect he's not actually dead...
