EastEnders actor will live tweet in character for culmination of 'Who killed Lucy?' storyline
Dot Cotton on Twitter? It would never happen. But for EastEnders's 30th anniversary week, which features three pre-recorded shows with live elements, and one fully live programme on Friday, one Albert Square resident will indeed be live-tweeting the action.
Tamwar Masood (played by Himesh Patel) will be the first UK soap character to tweet in an official capacity through a live show, with tweets throughout the live sections via the EastEnders Twitter account.
Unlike the programmes, the tweets won't be scripted: they will come from Patel, who has played Tamwar since he first appeared on the show in 2007.
"Tweeting in character is a first for me – but I think I know Tamwar well enough and I’m looking forward to giving the world his unique perspective on things as they unfold," Patel said.
Thursday sees the culmination of the Who killed Lucy Beale? storyline, with Friday's live episode showing the aftermath.
Tuesday and Thursday's episodes will be followed by live Q&A webcasts from Elstree studios on the EastEnders Facebook page, where fans who do not use Twitter will also be able to follow Tamwar's tweets.
