Rapper Drake missed his opportunity to receive the first Moonman statue of the night at last night's MTV VMAs because he was stuck in traffic.

Sean Diddy Combs, who was given the job of presenting the Best Hip Hop Video (For "Hotline Bling"), accepted the award on his behalf instead.

Drake also missed the first two performances by his rumoured girlfriend Rihanna.

He later declared his undying love for the singer, telling the audience "She's someone I've been in love with since I was 22 years old".

Combs told the crowd why he was missing in action.
