Tallaght is now a major suburb, home to over 100,000 people, but RTE are returning to what it was like as a sleepy rural village.

RTE's Nationwide will review what life was like in Tallaght village in the '60s and '70s before the population explosion.

The national broadcaster is looking for people with any pictures of the village during that time to send them in for the programme

Among photographs being sent in are those of the old Jobstown House and Doyles Hall, a central point for festivities in the village.

It was once the premier dance and entertainment venue of the area and held a weekly ceili, before eventually being turned into a snooker hall.

The Nationwide feature will be aired next week, and will look at "the lesser told story" of Tallaght.

The area previously featured on Nationwide in November of last year, with the IT Tallaght campus being discussed.

The 10-minute slot highlighted how improving the campus would benefit the local community.

The programme, presented by Mary Kennedy and Anne Cassin, offers viewers a round-up of news, views and events from around the country, airing on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
