Denise has backing of salsa's little helpers
'Red Rock' actress and 'Dancing with the Stars' hopeful Denise McCormack has been practising her salsa steps with her two-year-old son in anticipation of this Sunday night's show.
McCormack (39) is one of 11 celebrities competing on the RTÉ One show and will take to the ballroom floor for ladies' night.
The actress, who plays Bridget Kiely in the TV3 drama, is perfecting her moves at home with the help of her children Harvey (2) and Sidney (4).
"They are really excited. They're young so I don't know how much of it they get," she said.
"But they have an idea that mammy is going to be on the television and I'm going to be dancing. They're dancing around with me at home. There's a great buzz in the house."
McCormack said she was taking the show "ridiculously seriously", adding that she was "in it to win it".
"I don't have two left feet and I really enjoy it. Over the years, when I was younger, I did dance classes," she said. "I do know how to dance but I'm no pro, let's put it that way."
The Dublin woman has been named as one of the favourites to win the series along with Hometown singer Dayl Cronin, who was given rave reviews by the judges after his first performance.
Last week, the gents strutted their stuff. An average of 640,000 people tuned in.
