Daniel O'Donnell reveals Strictly 'bromance' between him and Peter Andre
Daniel O'Donnell has only just started his Strictly Dancing journey, but he has already built up a bromance with two of the contestants.
The Donegal singer has a reputation as a nice guy and he said that there is no animosity with other contestants on the BBC dancing show.
He said that he has become close pals with two of the male celebrity stars.
"There's already a 'bromance' between Peter (Andre) Iwan (Thomas) and myself," Daniel said. "We were all encouraging and applauding each other during the dance rehearsals. It's just amazing the fun we're having, even though it's very difficult to remember all the moves and co-ordinate them. Everything goes so fast in the training that it's hard to keep up.
"When you master the smallest thing there's a great sense of achievement, but you don't have time to shout 'yes' because you'll have missed the next bit."
Daniel admitted there's one particular dance style he has struggled with.
"The Latin ones are going to be the most difficult for me because I'm not good with hip movement," he said. However, despite his fears, the Save The Last Dance singer was known to be a twinkle toes as a teenager in Dublin at The Ierne, The National, The Irish Club and The TV Club.
"When it was announced I was doing Strictly, I got a text from a friend of mine saying: 'pretend you're in the Irish Club'. I thought, 'if only we could be back there because that was a great time in my life too'," he told the Sunday World Magazine.
Daniel, who will dance with Kristina Rihanoff, said he's hoping that he learns dance skills for life on the show.
"I'm hoping I'll stay for a good while, or until the end," he said. "But the thing I'm most excited about and the reason I want to stay in for as long as I can, is to learn how to dance at the highest level.
"This is a wonderful opportunity to be taught by the best in the business. You couldn't buy that type of dance training."
The 53-year-old also said that Kristina is the perfect partner.
"She's very patient and when I do something wrong she doesn't say, 'That was wrong,' she just explains and says, 'Try and do it this way'."
Strictly begins on Friday, September 25.
