A second series of Daniel and Majella's B&B Road Trip has been commissioned by RTE.

The first series of the show aired on rival station UTV Ireland and was a massive success for the channel.

UTV Ireland achieved a record month in November 2015 thanks in the main to the viewership for both Road Trip and I'm a Celebrity.

Daniel and Majella's hit show, which saw the singer and his wife traverse the country to stay at the B&Bs of fans, drew an average 270,000 viewers across six episodes.

It also generated 2.7 million Facebook posts and over one million tweets.

On the loss of the show, UTV Ireland, which has since been taken over by ITV, made the statement, "We have not committed to another series so the producer was free to approach other broadcasters as this wasn’t an original UTV commission."

A UTV Ireland spokesperson added, “It was a pleasure working with Daniel and Majella O’Donnell and VIP Productions throughout the first series of Daniel and Majella’s B&B Road Trip.

"We wish them every success with the second series and we look forward to working with them again, in the near future.”

The second series of the show, again being made by Vising Independent Productions, has been commissioned by the State broadcaster and will air on RTE One later this year.

Speaking about the new series Ray McCarthy, RTÉ Commissioning Editor, said, "We’re delighted to have Daniel and Majella on board at RTÉ One.

"We’re huge fans of both of them and it’s a great series highlighting Ireland's many unique and colourful tourism spots".

The programme makers are now looking for B&B owners to take part in the new series.

So, if you're a Daniel fan like the star of last year's series, Anne Sheerin (whose emotional reaction to their arrival features in the clip above), you can apply by emailing bnbroadtrip@gmail.com or calling Helen on 01-8641444.

The application form will also be available HERE.  Closing date for applications is Wednesday May 18.
