Dancing With The Stars judge Julian Benson will miss the first two shows of the new series as he is unwell, RTE has confirmed.

As a new batch of celebrities prepare to take to show off their footwork on Sunday, Julian won't be able to make it.

An RTE spokeswoman said: "Julian Benson is unwell and will miss the first two shows of Dancing with the Stars.
"During his absence he will be replaced by guest judge and creative director Darren Bennett."

Julian, who also runs his own talent agency, missed several shows last year when he became ill with pneumonia.

He will be joined again on the judging panel by Brian Redmond and Lorraine Barry.

The well-known faces who will be competing for the glitterball are GAA commentator Marty Morrissey, singer Jake Carter, fitness model Erin McGregor, athlete Robert Heffernan, presenter Maia Dunphy, 2FM presenter Bernard O'Shea, GAA star Anna Geary, rugby player Tomas O'Leary, entrepreneur Norah Casey, comedian Deirdre O'Kane and model Alannah Beirne.

  • Dancing With The Stars Ireland is on RTE one on Sundays at 6.30pm and spin-off show Can't Stop Dancing airs on RTE One on Thursdays at 9.30pm
