Coronation Street fans were left heartbroken as Aidan Connor carried out good deeds for his neighbours before he takes his own life next week.

The Weatherfield resident, played by former X Factor winner Shayne Ward, moved viewers with his acts of generosity, which included giving his watch to Liam Connor Jr, buying a new dress for Summer Spellman and planning to return the engagement ring to his former fiancee Eva Price.

The character is due to take his own life in episodes that will air next week.

One viewer wrote on Twitter: “Knowing what is going to happen next week, is making it so difficult to see Aidan scenes. Are the people on the street blind? Obviously something is going on!”

Another said: “These scenes are all too real, with Aidan. #Corrie @itvcorrie @shayneTward Is really doing them justice. Men need to talk more. If this saves just one life……”

Another added: “I can’t bear watching Aidan on screen knowing what happens next week.”

One more said: “aidan giving liam the watch i’m gonna be a wreck next week.”

A particularly moving moment came when Aidan unknowingly met his own baby with Eva, who is being raised as her own by Toyah Battersby.

One viewer wrote: “*SCREAMS AT THE TV* That baby is yours Aidan.”

Coronation Street continues on Monday on ITV.
