Catastrophe's Sharon Horgan jokes about 'horror' of marriage and kids with Ellen and Conan O'Brien
Catastrophe creator and star Sharon Horgan has been hitting the US chat show circuit ahead of the series second season.
The Channel 4 series has proved a hit Stateside and the second season will release on Amazon on April 8.
Horgan was joined by co-creator and co-star Rob Delaney for a segment on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.
"The second season, which starts on April 8, is us fully in marriage with a family and the horror of that," explained Sharon.
"The first season was all about showing the reality of pregnancy and the terrible things that can happen, and it's not rosy by any stretch of the imagination. The second season is really about marriage and kids and we both have kids and we bot have marriages and, phew, it's tough!"
Ellen laughed, "You confirm that I don't want them!"
Meanwhile, Horgan appeared solo on Conan and spoke about feeling the need to buy her two daughters Sadhbh and Amer gifts when they're at home in London and she has to travel to the US for work.
"I travel a lot and I'm desperate for their love and for them to not resent me," she told O'Brien.
"Last time I left London I bought them two hamsters to sort of replace me and that really worked."
She went on to say she cannot stand US store, American Girl, which sells dolls, clothes, games, and gifts for girls.
"I'm so glad we don't [have it in London]. That place is evil," she said.
"When I come over here we buy her American Doll tat but one time she asked me would I take her American girl doll and get its ears pierced.
"You can go and get your doll groomed. It's vile. It shouldn't be allowed. It makes you feel like a terrible person but I was desperate for her love so I took the doll and happened to be with my friend Tom, who is a gay gentleman.
"We found ourselves in the queue to get our American Doll's ears pierced and we did look like a couple who couldn't have children possibly using the doll as a a sort of substitute baby and also maybe I wasn't aware my husband was gay."
Conan informed Sharon that you can drink in the American Doll restaurant to make the experience a little more bearable.
"I went there and I got totally wasted with my doll," he said. "So wasted on white wine with my doll and then I felt amazing. I noticed lots of moms around me, their daughters were off playing with dolls, moms throwing back bottle after bottle."
