Broadcaster Brendan Courtney's mum explains her reasons for supporting marriage equality via video on Twitter
The mum of broadcaster and fashion designer Brendan Courtney has voiced her support for marriage equality in a video posted by her son on Twitter this evening.
Brendan recorded the video with his mother Nuala who urged people to vote and said the vote was about equality for all.
"It's nothing to do with your inner beliefs - it's to do with equal rights and that's it. You need to vote on it.... let the young people do what they want to do and have equality," she said.
Her son then asked her how she would feel if the referendum, which will take place on May 22nd, is not passed.
"Well it would make me angry that people are not looking at the bigger picture.
"It's nothing to do with me personally, I'm already married, but why should I decide that other people shouldn't be able to get married. That's wrong," she said.
