British police investigate sexual assault claim against Kevin Spacey

British police have launched an investigation into sexual assault claims made against Kevin Spacey.

Officers from Scotland Yard's child abuse and sexual offences team are looking into allegations made by a man, referencing 2008 when Spacey was working in the Old Vic Theatre as artistic director.

“On 1 November, City of London police referred an allegation of sexual assault to the Metropolitan police service. It is alleged a man assaulted another man in 2008 in Lambeth. Officers from the child abuse and sexual offences command are investigating," a Metropolitan Police spokesperson said today.

Officials did not name the individual, but it is believed to be Spacey. According to The Sun, the complainant, now 32 alleges the House of Cards actor abused him at the home he was renting in London when he was 23. It's reported that he awoke to find Spacey performing a sexual act on him.

The 58-year-old has been accused of a number of acts of sexual misconduct, including members of the House of Cards production team.
