There was a surprise arrival, a shock departure, and some vibrators thrown into the mix - the Geordie Shore season finale had a lot to offer.

Despite the fact that recent reports suggest the romance between Charlotte Crosby and Gary Beadle is well and truly over, last night's episode gave fans an insight into the beginning of their recent fever-pitch fling.

As Gary arrived back in the MTV show house, he declared he was now single (having ditched girlfriend Lillie), and Charlotte almost lost her life.

The pair's off again off again relationship (it was never really on) has been the axis about which the show has revolved since it kicked off five long years ago.

As Charlotte chatted to the Confession Cam, in the shower, she revealed she was cleaning herself in case she got lucky with the object of her unwavering affection.

We know it happens, we know they go legit (for a while at least), and fans were thrilled to see Charlotte get some good Gaz news for a change.

As Gary arrived, Marty departed, but nobody seemed too sad to see the newbie, and his ridiculous quiff, slink off down the street.

Elsewhere, Holly's incessant chatter about Kyle was more than many viewers could take, "Please choose Kyle and don't come back Holly" declared one fan on Twitter.

Slightly more entertaining (or horrifying) was Chloe and Marnie's encounter with a vibrator.

Whatever the reason, many viewers were driven to tears at the end of the season, although they don't have to wait long for more Geordie Shore antics - there's the Big Birthday Battle starting next week (Tuesday May 10).
