Ant and Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway has been hit with fix claims after a contestant took home the star prize despite initially giving the wrong answer.

The Geordie duo presented the finale of their programme live from Walt Disney World in Florida on Saturday.

Among the segments on the show was the weekly Win the Ads contest, which saw window cleaner Neil Scott hoping to take home the star prize haul - including a luxury holiday to Mexico, a new £20,000 car and a home makeover.

Ant and Dec told Neil that they would have to accept his first answer to the question, before asking him which hand the Statue of Liberty holds her torch in.

Pausing, Neil then said: "I’m going to say left, I haven’t got a clue.”

Aware that he was wrong, the live audience groaned, before Ant pressed him: "You’re going to say what?”

After hearing the response to his initial answer, Neil then replied: "Right. I’m going to say right.” Dec then jumped in saying: "That’s the right answer!” before Ant added: "I’m not finishing the series on a loser, believe me."

While Neil was understandably thrilled with his prize haul, several viewers were disappointed in the presenting pair for fixing the finale despite previous contestants in the Win the Ads contest going home empty-handed.

“I bet previous losers will not be happy," one viewer tweeted, while another added, "Who else seen that bloke cheat on win the ads? (sic)."

A fellow viewer wrote on Twitter, "Total fix in Win the Ads....Usually they say we have to take you first answer....But tonight no rules where in place.#SaturdayNightTakeaway," as another added, "Very disappointed with last nights Win The Ads. What happened to the rule of "we have to take your first answer"??!! FIX!!!!!!"

A spokesperson for the show didn't address the fix, but told The Sun: "We are thrilled for the contestant.”
