It's hard to imagine anyone other than Matt LeBlanc as Joey Tribbiani in Friends.
LeBlanc perfectly captured the loyal, sandwich-loving, struggling actor and all his quirks and it's impossible to imagine it any other way.
But we recently discovered, much to our horror, that LeBlanc almost didn't get the part.
Another actor, now a big name star, auditioned for the role of Chandler's best friend, roommate and dependant way back in the day.
According to Esquire, the casting directors had briefly considered Vince Vaugan for the NCB sitcom.
Casting director Ellie Janner told the magazine that she remembers Vaughn as "tall, handsome and a good actor" but ultimately she didn't think he was right for the role.
Vaughan went on to enjoy a successful movie career with roles in Swingers, Wedding Crashers, The Break-Up and Old School and a 'less said about it the better' appearance in HBO drama True Detective.
And LeBlanc went on to present Top Gear but will always and forever be known as Joey Tribbiani, no matter what gig he lines up next.
The recent demise of the short-lived UTV Ireland was largely unlamented, though it seems that RTÉ coveted one of its few attempts at original programming, and so we now have the second season of Daniel and Majella's B&B Road Trip transferred to RTÉ1.
