Almost a million people watched the opening episode of Love/Hate
Love/Hate has shown no sign of its popularity waning with a massive 976,400 viewers tuning in for the opening episode of the fifth series.
It represented 56pc cent of the audience share available.
The show has been one of the most popular on RTE in recent years, with a million people tuning into the final episode of last year’s series.
Last night’s explosive opener saw Nidge attempt to get his drug business back on track but also saw a major character being killed off.
Last night, the creator of the show, Stuart Carolan, also denied that this series would be the last.
He revealed last night that he is developing plotlines for the sixth series and said RTE will decide to give it a green light, depending on the ratings of this series.
Last year’s opener saw 970,600 tune in for the first episode.
