Aliona Vilani taking legal advice after former Strictly Come Dancing partner Johnny Ball claimed she faked ankle injury
Aliona Vilani is taking legal advice after her former Strictly Come Dancing partner Johnny Ball claimed she faked an ankle injury to take a holiday during the show.
Aliona was paired with the former presenter when he appeared on the BBC talent show in 2012. However, following a fall, Johnny was instead teamed up with Iveta Lukosiute while Aliona recovered.
In a recent chat with The Sun on Sunday newspaper, Johnny claimed that the situation was a "fix" to get him voted off the show sooner, and alleged that Aliona exaggerated the seriousness of the injury because she had a trip away planned.
"Aliona fell on a flat floor in flat shoes and said she had broken her leg," he told the publication. "The next day she flew to the South of France for a pre-arranged weekend with her boyfriend."
Now Aliona has hit back at Johnny's claims, taking to her Twitter page to reveal she's turned to her lawyers to deal with the situation.
"I am aware that Johnny Ball has made allegations regarding my fractured ankle during 2012 SCD, which I strongly deny," she tweeted. "I have instructed solicitors and am taking legal advice in relation to his allegations. It is therefore not appropriate to comment further at this time."
According to The Sun on Sunday, Aliona suffered a hairline fracture to her ankle following the injury.
Johnny also told the newspaper that Iveta had deliberately come up with a routine that was too difficult for him to ensure they were voted off the programme first.
"When I was knocked out she said, ‘That’s funny, my contract ends on Tuesday’," he added.
Johnny also has a family connection with Strictly, as his daughter Zoe Ball presents spin-off show It Takes Two.
