Legendary British thesp Richard E. Grant has been signed up for the next series of Game of Thrones.

The 58-year-old joins fellow Downton Abbey stars including Freddie Stroma as he joins the HBO series.

The Withnail and I actor has not been linked to a definite role, but it is believed he will have a reoccurring part in the sixth series.

Renowned British actors Jonathan Pryce and Ian McShane have also recently joined the popular show.

Grant was most recently seen on Irish screens presenting a documentary about hotels for Sky.

Game of Thrones will return to screens in April, 2016.
